Ohio Transmission Corporation Acquires PumpTek, LLC

January 14, 2016

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Transmission Corporation, an industrial equipment service provider and distributor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, announces the acquisition of PumpTek, LLC.

The team at PumpTek, LLC, a company headquartered in Monroe, Ohio, specializes in pumps with seal-less technology. The company will operate as a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, which provides expert solutions for industrial motion control, fluid power, power transmission and pumping systems.

“PumpTek has built a strong following among customers for seal-less pumps,” said Phil Derrow, President and CEO of Ohio Transmission Corporation. “The company, founded by Tim Marklay and Scott Sapita, has a sales presence in much of OTC’s current footprint, including Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Pittsburgh. PumpTek has significant expertise in magnetic drive (mag-drive), or seal-less, pumps from Innomag, one of the premier mag-drive lines and now part of the Flowserve portfolio. OTC will be able to leverage this expertise across most of our territory and customer base.”

With this acquisition, Ohio Transmission Corporation now has 24 locations throughout the Midwest, South and the Northeast, along with eight service shops. The addition of PumpTek’s associates brings Ohio Transmission Corporation’s existing workforce to more than 650 employees.

Since its founding in 1999, PumpTek has assisted its customer base in applying seal-less pump technology into their unique process conditions. The company’s services have included engineering support, field service, inspection and evaluation, pump repair and troubleshooting.

“The addition of PumpTek reinforces our already strong pump team and it adds to our already strong product line,” said Rob Webb, President of OTP Industrial Solutions. “Adding PumpTek to OTC will help us continue to reinforce our commitment to providing top-level service in the pump business in our markets.”

As a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, PumpTek LLC will have access to OTP’s vast product and service offerings and resources. The acquisition provides ample growth opportunities and will provide PumpTek’s customer base with a more comprehensive set of technical solutions.

“Scott and I, and the rest of our fellow team members at PumpTek, are very enthusiastic to join forces with a company of OTC’s caliber,” said Tim Marklay, managing partner at PumpTek, LLC. “For the past 17 years, PumpTek has worked arduously in applying seal-less pump expertise to bring value to a broad customer base in the industrial market segments that we serve.”

“We look forward to the path ahead, as the strength of OTC can be leveraged in the best interest of providing even more value and services to PumpTek customers,” said Scott Sapita, who co-founded PumpTek with Marklay.

Sapita, Marklay and PumpTek sales and service associates will stay with the business under OTC ownership.
