MOUNTAIN VIEW REGIONAL HOSPITAL IN CASPER, WYOMING, A JOINT-VENTURE PARTNERSHIP AMONG LOCAL PHYSICIANS AND NATIONAL SURGICAL HEALTHCARE, ACQUIRES CENTRAL WYOMING NEUROSURGERY AND ITS CLINIC NETWORK AND IMAGING CENTER

June 1, 2015

CHICAGO – Mountain View Regional Hospital (MVRH) in Casper, Wyoming, a joint venture between local physicians and National Surgical Healthcare, an owner and operator of surgical hospitals and surgery centers, today announced that MVRH has moved to unify its campus by acquiring the Central Wyoming Neurosurgery group (CWN), the largest and most experienced neuroscience and spine medical practice in Wyoming. The acquisition of CWN includes the groups’ Mountain View Clinic in Casper as well as its network of 14 orthopedic, spine and neurosurgery clinics across the state, and the Mountain View Imaging Center.

The combination of these resources will offer patients a seamless healthcare environment and will help extend the outreach clinic program throughout the state. Additionally, the united campus is expected to continue to attract patients to Casper from across the state of Wyoming and Western Nebraska to receive the highest quality clinical care.

MVRH is a neurosurgery- and orthopedic-focused facility that has four operating rooms, two treatment rooms, intensive care capabilities, and 23 inpatient beds. More than 30 physicians, including five surgeons at CWN, have staff privileges at the facility, and in 2014 CWN treated more than 15,000 patients and performed 6,000 imaging scans. The imaging center, which features the most technologically advanced scanning capabilities in the state, has the only truly Open MRI in Wyoming, a rapid acquisition 64-slice CT scanner, and digital X-ray capabilities.

Commenting on the announcement, David Crane, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NSH, said, “We are thrilled to strengthen our partnership with local physicians in Casper as together we continue to pursue our mission of providing excellent clinical care. This new and now unified entity reflects our ongoing dedication to creating the state’s premier healthcare system and our passion for delivering the highest quality care possible for patients statewide. We are gratified by the confidence and support expressed for NSH by our joint venture physician partners.

“MVRH is one of our top performing hospitals, so we are indeed pleased to announce this alliance of various campus capabilities,” Crane continued. “As one of the nation’s largest and most experienced operators of surgical hospitals focused on neurosurgery, spine and orthopedics, we believe there are attractive opportunities to promote further growth and efficiencies at CWN, enhance the benefits we offer to employees who work on the campus, and extend the reach of these operations to other communities in Wyoming and elsewhere. Additionally, we expect to capture operational synergies and achieve further quality improvements as we work together to enhance the capabilities and services of the campus and to preserve and support its mission.”

Dr. Thomas Kopitnik, Jr., the owner of CWN and lead physician partner in both MVRH and CWN, added, “This transaction fulfills my vision for the campus. As the hospital and the group become fully integrated, we expect to enhance the clinical care we are providing for patients as we strengthen collaboration across all service lines. Over the last several years, we have experienced tremendous growth, starting as a neurosurgically focused hospital with only a few physicians and one affiliated clinic to become the state’s preeminent medical practice extending excellent patient care to the people of Casper and throughout Wyoming and Western Nebraska. With this growth and an increasingly complex operating environment has come a greater need for expert management and administrative support, which goes to the crux of our decision to combine our operations with MVRH. By unifying the campus so that our practice, its clinics, the imaging center and the hospital all operate with one vision and as one unified entity, we believe we can achieve more cohesive operations and greater synergies while our physicians continue to focus on the delivery of the highest quality of care available in the state.”
